Who is Shanley Corvite?

shan-lee core-vee-teh

I was born in Malolos, a city in the province of Bulacan in the Philippines. I was raised in the south side of Chicago, Illinois and am now in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I completed my Bachelor’s of Science in Information at the University of Michigan’s School of Information (UMSI) with a focus on User Experience Design. I am now a Ph.D. student at UMSI and advised by Dr. Julie Hui.

My research trajectory began as a sophomore in high school when I joined my school’s first-ever robotics club in 2015. As the project manager of the club, I needed to understand and keep track of all moving parts (quite literally) in the club. My passion for the STEM field grew ever since.

Outside of academics, I am a powerlifter. Powerlifting is an individual sport, and the goal is to lift the most amount of weight for the squat, bench press, and deadlift. I started powerlifting in 2021 but have been lifting since 2019 and was active during high school.

As a small side job, I am a photographer, videographer, and a digital art creator. I mainly take photos for people during powerlifting competitions, videos for social media content, and digital art for logos.
